The reason women don't have a demand for reading about alpha females dominating beta males is because women don't *want* to read about alpha females and beta males. Females are hardwired to seek out alpha males - it has nothing to do with an anti-woman conspiracy or simple incompetence on the part of women knowing what they want which is what the article seems to imply.

Human arousal is not egalitarian. Nature isn't designed that way. While all humans are capable of being competent individuals, their abilities don't determine what they want - millions of years of evolutionary history do, and the fact is, alpha males are arousing to females. You can't socially re-engineer the basis of female arousal, no matter how desirable that would be to create an ideal society.

Also note: as ~70% of divorces in the US are initiated by females, at least 50% of which are due to simple boredom on the part of the wife, the statement "female lead relationships can be just as successful" is misleading. Statistically, a female will dump a beta male to pursue an alpha as soon as she views herself as his superior. Less moral ones will cheat. This is natural and completely rational behavior - why would anyone's impulses drive them to invest *everything* into something when there are *significantly* greater opportunities available? Women don't "date down" unless they feel they have to. "Competence" and "ability" have no part in the equation - just human behavior patterns.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2405037892739734846.post-5060228733958581742014-03-10T01:46:44.017-07:002014-03-10T01:46:44.017-07:00Well, probably not my thing. The books are available through Amazon and www.a1adultebooks.com/ebooks/.

I believe turning human males into willing, desirable and well trained pets (not slaves) falls well within the realm of femdom writing. Most of the males in the stories are given the chance to really become truly fulfilled pets in all that they really desire as enhanced, owned pets owned and trained by accomplished trainers / Mistresses.
There are three titles so far about training puppy boys with more to come.

As a sub male, I find book each has been a terrific and exciting read. There are several more books planned and I look forward to them with great anticipation. It seems very likely that if your readers give the concept a change, many will find the idea of training and owning their very own puppy boy as exciting and practical as I have.

I look forward to you review / reply. It's free on literotica. I personally found her other work on literotica rather mundane. However this particular story, Swallowtail, is as emotionally satisfying as any romantic novel I've read. You'd get to see Zoe in kickass action and with hotter sex, before she has her breakdown in this book, and you'd understand why she had a breakdown. Not really a fair review to take it out of the series. I admit it's not hardcore blood and guts like many vampire stories. But it's also very unique. I really recommend starting with book 1 as the entire books 1-6 received 5 star reviews from FAR :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2405037892739734846.post-86818758865725779022013-08-19T08:55:25.911-07:002013-08-19T08:55:25.911-07:00@Jessica
Ah, I like your analysis! Sometimes thin...@Jessica

Ah, I like your analysis! Sometimes things really rub me up the wrong way in a book, but I can't quite express why. In this case I said that it was a seeping in of the small town America trope, but I think you're right. It's really an issue of who drives the story. I hadn't exactly thought of it like that before. It's certainly a common problem - female heroines (who really do things, rather than take on a passive Bella Swan 'save me' role) are rare. Sadly.

And I agree - I was all ready and willing to love the hell out of this book. Especially when in the extract she pulls him out of jail - saves him. But I didn't feel that the character who did that was the same one as she is in the rest of book. SunnyGirlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14604191788812626246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2405037892739734846.post-52139609099394918992013-08-19T08:05:22.561-07:002013-08-19T08:05:22.561-07:00I stumbled on this review a few weeks ago and boug...I stumbled on this review a few weeks ago and bought to book before I finished reading the review (military femdom? I was all over that!)

Yeah, in the future, I'll be finishing the reviews first.

That said, I don't think that the issues are really about Michelle not being dominant in their relationship. Yeah, in the beginning Wyatt does think about wanting to top her, but that's done by the time the book is half over. I don't see her having PSTD and weak moments as making her less of a dominant - hell, as a dom with PTSD, I LIKE seeing femdoms who can be weak and still be dominant.

The flip flop isn't in whether or not she is a dom - she is definitely in control of their relationship, even when she isn't in control of herself. The issue is goes deeper into the story. She doesn't have any agency. She may be dominant, but as a character is the backdrop against which Wyatt takes action. She doesn't drive the story, or effect it at all, she may dominate the relationship, but the story is all about him, and she's just there as someone for him to interact with.

This is a constant problem in all kinds of fiction. It's one reason I love Buffy but gag at Twilight. It's why the Black Widow in the Avengers is a fail character, even though I love her in the comics. Women in mainstream (and sadly, much femdom) fiction aren't there to impact or drive the stories, they are there for the story to happen around and too.

What is particularly painful about this book is that it starts by presenting Michelle as having all the agency. She is the one coming to Wyatt's rescue, she is the one who is forcing him to pull himself out of the funk and start healing. She is the one who is instigating... and then Wyatt ends up largely healing himself (or at least its written to seem that way, his later healing largely ignoring the huge impact her pulling him into a new environment and forcing him to rethink his life had) while he ends up rescuing her from her problems, which take over the story. That isn't about the D/s relationship flip flopping, it's about the story being inherently messed up in the way it treats the female character.

On the other issues, I very much agree with you. The gold allergy thing nearly had me throwing my tablet across the room. You do not leave metal on a person for 24 hours then check out go "Oh, good, you don't have an allergy." The problems that the only dominant female in the book also happens to be a pedophile. Basically she is the one who introduces the Cristian Grey character to the lifestyle. However, I'd like to point out that you CAN be allergic to gold because most gold products these days are not 24k gold, but more like 14k. And that means a lot of other metals, which aren't necessarily hypoallergenic, have been alloyed with the gold.

(Not speaking from personal experience with gold, but I do have wacky-sensitive skin that can react to copper, sterling silver, and "hypoallergenic" surgical steel.
